Accessing Lemieux Library and McGoldrick Learning Commons for Visiting Scholars

Are you a student, faculty member, or staff from an Orbis Cascade Alliance member institution? The Lemieux Library And Mcgoldrick Learning Commons at Seattle University welcomes you! Thanks to the reciprocal borrowing agreement within the Orbis Cascade Alliance Summit program, you are entitled to the same library borrowing privileges as Seattle University’s own community. Setting Up Your Visiting Summit Borrower Account at Lemieux Library

To fully utilize the resources of the Lemieux Library and McGoldrick Learning Commons, including building access and borrowing privileges from our extensive collection, you will need to activate your Visiting Summit Patron account upon arrival.

The activation process is straightforward:

  • Simply visit the Circulation Desk, located on the 3rd floor of the Lemieux Library.
  • Present your valid student ID card from your home institution.
  • Be prepared to log in to your library account from your home institution for verification.

Please allow approximately 15 minutes for the account setup to be completed.

Comprehensive Services for Visiting Summit Patrons

As a Visiting Summit Patron at Lemieux Library and McGoldrick Learning Commons, a range of services are available to support your research and study needs:

  • Extensive Borrowing Privileges: You can borrow up to 100 items at a time, for a period of 12 weeks, with the option to renew once for an additional 6 weeks. Please note that items on reserve, Special Collections materials, and physical journals are not available for loan.
  • Research Assistance: For help with your research inquiries, our Information Desk on the second floor offers fundamental research support.
  • Guest Wi-Fi Access: Connect your personal devices to the University’s Guest Wi-Fi network for seamless internet access.
  • Limited Database Access: Visiting Summit Patrons have access to a curated selection of library-licensed databases. These can be accessed via two designated visitor workstations located on the second floor of the library. A detailed list of accessible databases is available upon request.
  • Microfilm and Scanner Access: Utilize the microfilm, fiche, and book scanners situated in the third-floor computer lab to digitize resources. Further details about these machines can be provided if needed.
  • Inviting Study Spaces: The Lemieux Library and McGoldrick Learning Commons offers a variety of attractive study spaces throughout all six floors of the building. This includes access to 49 individual study rooms available on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Meeting Space Requests: Visiting Summit Patrons can request meeting spaces within the library and other select University buildings. To arrange this, please contact the Office of University Events.
  • Swipe-to-Study Access: During Swipe-to-Study periods, which are typically evenings, weekends, and breaks, building access is restricted to individuals with a valid SU ID card. As a Visiting Summit Patron, you can still gain access during these times by submitting a request via the Contact the Library Form.
