We understand the importance of creating inclusive environments and have implemented several key features to support diverse learning needs within our online sessions.
One crucial element is live captioning and subtitles. To ensure everyone can fully engage with our Learning Thursdays, we utilize Rev.com, a sophisticated software integrated with Zoom, to provide real-time subtitles. Participants have the control to toggle captions on or off as per their preference throughout each session. Furthermore, a complete transcript is made available for download after each session, offering an additional resource for review and comprehension. For those who wish to follow along in real-time, Zoom also allows participants to view the live transcript directly within the screen, conveniently located where the chat function typically appears. While we strive for accuracy, please be aware that live captioning is an automated service, and 100% accuracy cannot be guaranteed.
Recognizing that individuals learn in various ways, our Learning Thursdays are thoughtfully designed to accommodate diverse learning styles. We purposefully blend visual and auditory elements through presentation slides, engaging videos, compelling storytelling, and a variety of speakers. To foster active participation and deeper understanding, we incorporate breakout discussions, collaborative group work, personalized 1-2-1 conversations, group feedback sessions, and practical workshop tasks, all tailored to the specific session content. We also value personal reflection time, allowing participants to process information and connect it to their own experiences.

Regarding rest breaks, while our concise Learning Thursday sessions (typically 1 hour 15 minutes) do not include scheduled breaks to maximize content delivery and interactive elements, we encourage participants to take breaks as needed. Feel free to turn off your camera momentarily if you require a pause. To further enhance flexibility, all Learning Thursday sessions are recorded and made accessible to Citizens UK members on the Leaders’ area of our website here. This allows you to revisit the content at your own pace and convenience. For our longer training programs, such as the 3-day community leadership training, we ensure sessions do not exceed 45 minutes to maintain optimal engagement and prevent fatigue.
