At The Learning Bridge, our primary mission is to offer your child a stimulating, enjoyable, and secure after-school environment. We are dedicated to ensuring the well-being of every child in our care, and we strictly adhere to the safety policies established by the Paulding County School System. This commitment includes comprehensive protocols for various emergency situations, such as lockdowns and bomb threats.
Prioritizing Safety: Emergency Preparedness
To maintain a safe environment, The Learning Bridge conducts regular safety drills. We practice monthly fire drills, severe weather drills twice a year, and at least one lockdown drill annually. These drills are crucial for preparing both our staff and students to respond effectively in emergency situations. In the event of severe weather, our operations will align precisely with Paulding County School safety guidelines. Detailed emergency guidelines are posted in each of our after-school program locations, and we encourage parents to review these rules to stay informed.
Maintaining Health and Conduct Standards
To safeguard the health of all students, The Learning Bridge reserves the right to dismiss students in situations involving repeated bathroom accidents or deliberate exposure of bodily fluids to others. We also have a strict policy against eloping or running away from the group. Such behavior will result in an automatic write-up and may lead to suspension or dismissal from the program. Furthermore, any act of physical harm towards another student or staff member is strictly prohibited. Instances of physical harm will lead to an immediate write-up, and parents will be contacted to pick up their child. The Learning Bridge Administration and Director will determine any suspension or dismissal resulting from physical harm incidents.
Important Pick-Up and Transportation Policies
School Closures and Emergency Pick-Up: If school is dismissed early before The Learning Bridge program begins, parents are responsible for alternative pick-up arrangements, which should be on file with the child’s school. If early closure is necessary after our program has started, perhaps due to hazardous road conditions, parents will be contacted and asked to collect their child as soon as possible. We strongly advise adding multiple friends or neighbors to your emergency contact list to ensure timely pick-up during inclement weather or other emergencies that might prevent you from being available. During severe weather events, our staff will be focused on ensuring the safety of the children and may not be able to answer parent phone calls immediately.
Transportation Guidelines: Please note that The Learning Bridge does not provide transportation services for students. In the event of a medical emergency requiring transport, this will be facilitated by ambulance or police services. In cases of severe injury or life-threatening situations, after-school personnel are authorized to seek emergency medical care for your child.
Authorized Adults for Pick-Up: For your child’s safety, only authorized adults with a valid driver’s license are permitted to pick up students. This includes immediate family members aged 16 and older, and any non-family member must be 18 years of age or older and possess a valid driver’s license. Ride-share or taxi services are strictly prohibited for student pick-up under any circumstances.
Children are not allowed to leave the program building unless accompanied by a parent, authorized adult, or a staff member. Only individuals listed on the child’s registration form are authorized for pick-up, and picture identification will be required. You or your authorized adult must sign out your child every day upon pick-up.
The Learning Bridge is committed to providing a safe, structured, and enjoyable after-school experience for your child. We appreciate your cooperation in adhering to these policies to ensure the well-being of all students.
