Blackboard Learn Course Merge Requests at CCSU

Do you manage multiple sections of the same course in Blackboard Learn CCSU? The Blackboard Learn Course Merge Request process allows instructors to combine two or more Blackboard Learn CCSU course shells into a single, blank master shell. This is particularly useful for instructors teaching multiple sections of the same course, streamlining content management and grading.

Merging courses in Blackboard Learn CCSU offers several advantages:

  • Centralized Content Management: Upload course materials and announcements only once into the master shell.
  • Unified Gradebook: Manage grades for all merged sections within a single, comprehensive grade book in Blackboard Learn CCSU.
  • Student Section Visibility: Students will continue to see only their individual course section within Blackboard Learn CCSU.

Before requesting a merge, ensure that the course shells to be merged are blank. The merge process creates a new, empty master shell, and the original individual sections become inaccessible after the merge. Content from existing shells can then be copied into the new master shell using the Course Copy function within Blackboard Learn CCSU.
