As Dean of Extended Learning, Mike Schroder, pictured above, shares his insights: “While fall in San Diego may not bring traditional autumn foliage, it certainly brings the excitement of a new academic year and fresh opportunities. At California State University San Marcos, fall is the ideal time to invest in your future through further education and specialized training. Our degree and certificate programs are carefully crafted in collaboration with local industries, ensuring our students are equipped for the in-demand jobs within our regional economy.”

This year introduces exciting new programs, including a bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology, master’s degrees in Public Health and Educational Administration (with the MA Ed program offered online), and a fully online RN to BSN program. For those seeking specialized skills, new certificate programs include a high-school level International Baccalaureate Certificate in Teaching and Learning, along with certificates in Healthcare Interpreting and Medical Assistant Training.

CSUSM Extended Learning caters to professionals at every stage of their careers. Take Melissa Gary ‘15, for example, featured on the original cover, who seamlessly transitioned from a bachelor’s degree in psychology to the online Speech-Language Pathology Preparation Certificate program. This accelerated program provided her with the necessary prerequisites to apply for the master’s degree in speech-language pathology, allowing her to quickly advance her studies. Melissa noted, “The online, accelerated format allows me to complete all eleven prerequisite classes in just one year. It’s demanding, but incredibly exciting.”
