Meet Melissa Knight: Nurturing Young Minds at The Village Learning Center

Hello! I’m Melissa Knight, and it’s a pleasure to share my story with you as the owner of The Village Learning Center. My connection with this wonderful center runs deep, not just as the current owner, but also as a parent who entrusted them with my own children’s early education. Both of my energetic boys began their learning journey and spent their formative preschool years right here at The Village Learning Center. In fact, my family’s journey with the center took an exciting turn in October 2016 when my husband and I took ownership. By then, my eldest son had already been a part of The Village Learning Center family for three years, making this transition even more meaningful for us.

The dream of owning a daycare, a place dedicated to nurturing young minds, has been with me since my own early work experiences. My very first job at the age of 16 was in a daycare, and from that moment, I knew I had found my calling. Even as a young girl, I was always drawn to babies and little children, feeling a deep sense of joy in their presence. Throughout high school and college, I continued to work in daycare settings, solidifying my passion for early childhood education.

My commitment to education extends beyond just practical experience. I pursued higher education to deepen my understanding and skills, earning a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Houston and a Masters in Educational Leadership from the University of St. Thomas. Following graduation, I spent a year substitute teaching before transitioning into a full-time role as a 4th-grade Elementary teacher. After three fulfilling years in the classroom, I moved into school administration, serving as an Elementary principal for nine years. This diverse experience, spanning from teaching to leadership, has provided me with a comprehensive understanding of child development and effective educational practices.

My decision to resign from my principalship was driven by a desire to be more actively involved at The Village Learning Center and more present in my own boys’ lives. This transition has been incredibly rewarding, allowing me to combine my professional expertise with my personal commitment to creating a nurturing and enriching environment for all children at The Village Learning Center. I feel truly blessed to have accumulated these years of valuable experience, starting from a young age, and to now have the opportunity to lead The Village Learning Center.

I firmly believe that education, especially in the early childhood years, is of paramount importance. At The Village Learning Center, our focus goes beyond just loving, caring for, and nurturing your children. We are dedicated to fostering a holistic learning environment where each child can thrive. I am deeply involved in the daily operations of the center and am always present and available. I warmly welcome you to visit The Village Learning Center and look forward to meeting you and your little ones, becoming a part of your child’s early learning journey.
