Iowa Learning Central is engineered to provide flexible support to all schools throughout Iowa. It directly responds to two critical statewide needs, both essential for the success of students, educators, and families. Firstly, it addresses the heightened demand for readily accessible, evidence-based resources and support systems. This need became particularly evident during the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting the necessity for robust support for students in both in-person and online learning environments, as well as for the educators and families who guide them. Secondly, it tackles the persistent need for equitable access to high-quality educational content, regardless of a student’s geographic location within the state.

How Iowa Learning Central Enhances Education:

  • Expands Access to Superior Content: It broadens the availability of high-caliber course and unit content that is fully aligned with Iowa’s academic standards. This empowers schools with the adaptability to utilize, adjust, and integrate the content to best serve the diverse needs of their students, families, and communities.
  • Facilitates Interactive Course Design: Schools can download necessary content from the exchange as required, enabling them to craft engaging and collaborative learning experiences, whether for in-person or online courses within their classrooms.
  • Supports Locally Led Education: The platform includes content specifically designed to be led and facilitated by local educators within their own classrooms, whether in a physical or virtual setting.

The overarching goal of Iowa Learning Central is to enrich the resources available to educators, thereby expanding opportunities and support for students and families across Iowa, enhancing the overall educational landscape.
