Legends of Learning provides educators with robust tools to monitor student progress and performance, ensuring engaging and effective learning experiences. This guide will walk you through how to access and interpret student performance data within the Legends of Learning platform, both in real-time and for completed assignments. Understanding student data is crucial for tailoring instruction and maximizing the impact of game-based learning in your classroom.
Real-Time Student Progress Monitoring in Legends of Learning
To keep a close eye on student engagement and learning during a live Legends of Learning assignment, navigate to the Active Assignments section on your Legends account homepage. Clicking on the specific assignment name will take you directly to the Student Data page, offering a live view of student progress and performance.
Understanding the Activities Bar
At the top of the Student Data page, the Activities bar presents a snapshot of all activities included in the assignment. Each game is represented by a tile. Clicking on a game tile reveals more detailed information about that specific activity, allowing you to quickly assess how students are interacting with each learning component within Legends of Learning.
Decoding the Student Table: Real-Time Insights
Below the Activities bar, the Student Table provides a comprehensive overview of each student’s real-time progress and performance within the Legends of Learning assignment. This table is your central hub for monitoring student engagement as it unfolds.
Student Identification and Status
For each student who has started the Legends of Learning assignment, the table displays their avatar and name for easy identification. Next to the avatar, a status indicator provides immediate insight into their current activity level:
- Green Triangle: Indicates the student is actively engaged and playing within the Legends of Learning assignment.
- Red Octagon: Signals that the student is not actively playing. This could mean they have navigated to another browser tab or are inactive within the assignment window.
- Grey Circle: Shows an unknown status, often indicating the student has signed out of the Legends of Learning assignment.
Activity Progress and Playtime
The Student Data Table clearly shows which activities each student has started and their progress within each. A purple progress bar under each activity visually represents how far a student has advanced in that specific game or learning module.
By hovering over an activity, you can access a detailed overview of student statistics for that activity. This includes playtime and completion status, offering a quick snapshot of engagement and progress on individual components of the Legends of Learning assignment.
The table also displays the assignment’s start date and the total playtime for each student, giving context to their engagement duration.
Progress Wheel: Assignment Completion at a Glance
The Progress Wheel offers a visual representation of the overall completion percentage for the entire Legends of Learning assignment. It’s important to note that this percentage reflects completion, not student performance grades.
Interactive Student Management Tools
The Student Table includes interactive buttons for each student, providing teachers with immediate management capabilities within Legends of Learning:
- Skip Button: Allows you to advance a student to the next activity in the assignment. This can be used multiple times if needed to guide student pacing or address individual learning needs. Skipped activities are reflected in the completion data when hovering over the activity icon.
- Restart Button: Forces a student to restart the entire Legends of Learning assignment. This action clears all existing student data, returning them to the beginning of the assignment to replay all activities.
- Performance Button: Generates an individual student performance report. This detailed report breaks down student performance on each question and provides grades for assessments and Quiz Games included in the Legends of Learning assignment.
Question Results: Class-Wide Performance Analysis
For a holistic view of class performance, the Question Results button, located at the top right of the Student Table, is invaluable. Clicking this button provides an overall grade for the assignment, the percentage of the class that answered each question correctly, and grades for assessments and Quiz Games within the Legends of Learning assignment.
Expanding each question using the arrow to the left provides a detailed breakdown of student responses, allowing for granular analysis of learning gaps and areas of strength.
The Question Results report can be further refined by filtering for specific student groups or searching for individual students, facilitating targeted intervention and support within Legends of Learning.

The top of the Student Data page also houses several other useful buttons for managing the Legends of Learning assignment:
-

-
End Button: Completely stops the assignment for all students. The assignment can be Restarted if needed, providing flexibility in managing Legends of Learning activities.

-
