The Veteran’s Electrical Entry Program (VEEP), developed by the electrical training ALLIANCE, directly addresses two critical needs: supporting military personnel transitioning to civilian life and tackling the growing shortage of skilled electricians in the United States. VEEP offers a unique pathway for transitioning service members, their spouses, and recent veterans to enter a high-demand field with substantial earning potential through Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committees (JATC) and their blended learning models.
Recognizing the challenges of transitioning to civilian life, VEEP provides comprehensive training at no cost to participants. This crucial program is designed to be completed while service members are still transitioning out of the military. A key feature of VEEP is its personalized approach: participants choose their desired location within the United States for post-program work and life. The electrical training ALLIANCE then facilitates a direct entry agreement with the relevant JATC training center in that area. Upon successful agreement, candidates are approved to begin the VEEP program, paving their way into electrical careers via Jatc Blended Learning.
For active duty personnel, participation requires chain of command approval. Once enrolled in VEEP, this specialized training substitutes for regular duty requirements during the final 180 days of service. This integration allows for a seamless transition into civilian life and career readiness. The training itself is conducted locally at a participating JATC facility and spans several weeks, employing a blended learning approach that combines in-person instruction with online resources to maximize learning and flexibility.
Upon VEEP completion, participants gain direct entry into the JATC apprenticeship program at their chosen location. Because all NECA/IBEW Apprenticeship programs are both state and federally accredited, veterans are eligible to utilize their GI Bill benefits while progressing towards becoming journey-level electricians. This combination of hands-on experience, JATC blended learning, and educational benefits ensures veterans are well-equipped for successful and rewarding careers in the electrical industry.
