Discover the Wonders of Nature-Based Learning at Learning Tree Farm

Last summer, our family stumbled upon an incredible place that truly embodies natural learning: Learning Tree Farm. Located just west of Miamisburg, this hidden gem quickly became a favorite after our first day trip to one of their engaging events. From that moment, our appreciation for Learning Tree Farm only continued to grow.

During a conversation with Meredith Florkey, the Education Director, her passion for teaching and nurturing young minds was immediately evident. She perfectly articulated the core philosophy of Learning Tree Farm: “Humans learn best when all of their senses are engaged, when they have ample time to investigate their surroundings, and when they can engage in firsthand, real-world experiences. My vision was to create an educational environment that wholeheartedly embraces these principles – a space offering daily, concrete experiences in nature and abundant opportunities for exploration. A place where I, myself, would be excited to learn and where I would eagerly enroll my own children.”

This dedicated mother of three is wholeheartedly committed to her mission, and Learning Tree Farm provides the ideal setting to bring this vision to life. Confession time: I wouldn’t typically describe myself as a nature enthusiast. Bugs usually send me running, trees trigger my allergies, and the great outdoors can sometimes induce panic. However, there’s something truly special about Learning Tree Farm that even I adore. Knowing that my children are expanding their minds and nurturing their spirits, whether they’re participating in a camp or exploring the traditional farm facilities during a family program, brings me immense joy and peace of mind.

Learning Tree Farm is actively expanding its outreach to include more recurring programs, notably a nature-based preschool – a pioneering initiative in the South Dayton area. This exciting development underscores their commitment to providing consistent and immersive learning experiences rooted in nature.
