Hello families! My name is [Teacher’s Name – If available in a broader context, otherwise keep it general], and I am thrilled to be a part of the Destiny Learning Center family. For the past three wonderful years, I’ve been married to my amazing husband, Stephen, and I’m incredibly excited to bring my passion for education and child development to Destiny Learning Center.
My educational journey began with a unique homeschooling experience from 1st through 12th grade in sunny St. Petersburg, Florida. This personalized learning environment sparked my love for education and inspired me to pursue a career where I could create similar enriching experiences for other children. Immediately after high school, I embarked on my professional path in education, dedicating eight years to a private Christian school. Starting as a teacher’s assistant across various grades for five years provided me with a foundational understanding of diverse learning styles and classroom dynamics. I then advanced to become a VPK (Voluntary Prekindergarten) lead teacher for three years, honing my skills in early childhood education and curriculum implementation.
During this period of practical experience, I also focused on formal education, earning an Associate of Arts Degree from St. Petersburg College and a Child Development Associates Degree through the Childcare Apprenticeship Program. My commitment to professional development is further demonstrated by completing over 75 hours of training courses and competency exams with the Florida Department of Children and Families, alongside other educational training and FTCE exam certifications. This comprehensive training ensures I am well-versed in best practices for child care and early learning environments.
While nearing completion of my Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education, I felt a calling to expand my teaching horizons. This led me to FYI Dance Company eight years ago, where I currently continue to teach dance to children aged 3 through 5th grade in various styles. This role allows me to engage children’s creativity and physical development in a fun and expressive way. Furthermore, my four years of involvement in children’s ministry at a local church deepened my understanding of faith-based education. There, I developed curriculum, mentored student worship teams, and organized numerous large-scale events for preschool, elementary, and youth, witnessing firsthand the joy children experience when connecting with their faith in an engaging and supportive environment.
My philosophy as an educator is simple: I want every student in my class to eagerly anticipate coming to school each day. I strive to cultivate an environment where children are not only excited to learn and grow academically but also feel inspired to develop personally, including their spiritual growth. Joining Destiny Learning Center with my mother to create a truly unique educational experience is a dream come true. I am deeply grateful for this opportunity to teach with a captivating and faith-based curriculum at Destiny Learning Center, and I look forward to partnering with families to nurture the potential within each child.
