What We Are Looking For in a Learning Disabilities Teacher Consultant
Clifton Public Schools is seeking a highly qualified and dedicated individual who meets the following requirements:
- Education: Hold a minimum of a Master’s Degree in Education, providing a strong foundation in educational theory and practice.
- Certifications: Possess a valid New Jersey Educational Services Certificate and Learning Disabilities Teacher-Consultant (LDTC) Endorsement. This certification is mandatory to practice as an LDTC in New Jersey public schools.
- Skills and Abilities:
- Assessment Expertise: Demonstrated ability to effectively assess children’s learning characteristics and identify their strengths and areas for growth.
- Instructional Design: Proven ability to design appropriate instructional strategies and plan individualized educational programs that are effective and engaging.
- Understanding of Child Development: Strong understanding of child development, learning assessment, classifications, instructional strategies, and differentiation to cater to diverse learners.
- Knowledge of Curriculum and Standards: Solid knowledge of academic interventions, curriculum frameworks, and the New Jersey Student Learning Standards (NJSLS).
- Special Education Law Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of New Jersey Special Education Administrative Code and the laws and regulations governing special education to ensure compliance and best practices.
- Experience: School Child Study Team (CST) experience is highly preferred, indicating familiarity with the processes and collaborative nature of CST work. Familiarity with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is also beneficial, showing a broader understanding of evidence-based interventions.
- Communication and Interpersonal Prowess: Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
- Additional Preferences: Bilingual proficiency is preferred, allowing for effective communication with a wider range of students and families.
- Residency: Candidates must be a current resident of New Jersey, have an approved residency waiver, or agree to obtain residency within one year of employment, aligning with district policies.
