Ball State University Civic Learning Symposium 2024: Igniting Dialogue for Democracy

Registration is now open for the highly anticipated 2024 Bsu Civic Learning Symposium, a pivotal event for educators, practitioners, and community leaders passionate about civic engagement. Hosted by the Center for Economic and Civic Learning at Ball State University, this year’s symposium, themed “Education, Dialogue, & Deliberation in Our Democracy,” promises to be an enriching experience focused on fostering constructive conversations in an increasingly polarized world.

Scheduled for September 27th and 28th, the symposium will be held at the L.A. Pittenger Student Center on the Ball State University campus. This year’s event boasts an impressive lineup of speakers, including the distinguished Dr. Freeman A. Hrabowski, III, a renowned leader in education, and Harry Boyte, an expert in public work and civic agency. Their insights will anchor discussions centered on the critical role of dialogue and deliberation in strengthening democratic values and educational practices.

The BSU Civic Learning Symposium is designed to explore how educators and community members can cultivate environments that encourage open dialogue, bridge diverse perspectives, and promote civic responsibility.
