A Hub for Academic Excellence and Community Growth
Established in 2009 as a small education center, the location has evolved alongside the remarkable growth of San Tan Valley. Recognizing the area’s potential and the increasing demand for higher education in this desirable suburban locale, Central Arizona College made a significant investment. In January 2014, the doors to the new, expanded San Tan Campus – now recognized as the San Tan Learning Center – opened, marking a new chapter in accessible education for the region.
Strategically positioned between Florence, Coolidge, Queen Creek, and Apache Junction, the San Tan Learning Center serves as a convenient and central point for students across Pinal County and the Greater Phoenix area. Our commitment is to provide a comprehensive learning environment that not only meets the academic needs of our students but also contributes to the overall development and enrichment of the San Tan Valley community.

Sustainable Commuting Options: The Travel Reduction Program
Recognizing the increasing costs of commuting and environmental concerns, Central Arizona College encourages students, faculty, and staff to explore alternative transportation options. While public transportation in Pinal County is still developing, our Travel Reduction Program offers practical solutions, particularly carpooling.
Carpooling Benefits:
Carpooling, sharing rides with two to six people traveling in the same direction, offers numerous advantages:
- Save Money: Split gasoline and maintenance costs, significantly reducing your personal vehicle expenses.
- Lower Insurance Premiums: Potentially reduce insurance costs by limiting daily commuting mileage on your own vehicle.
- Reduce Commute Time: Utilize carpool lanes in Maricopa County to bypass traffic congestion and shorten your travel time.
- Decrease Stress: Arrive at the San Tan Learning Center feeling more refreshed and relaxed, ready to focus on your studies or work.
- Build Community: Foster new friendships and connections with fellow students or colleagues through shared rides.
- Utilize Commute Time Productively: Passengers can read, study, work, or simply relax during the commute.
- Increase Vehicle Availability: Your personal car becomes more available for other errands and family needs.
- Flexible Participation: Carpool just one day a week or as often as your schedule allows.
- No Car? No Problem: Join a carpool as a passenger and contribute to gas expenses.
- Potential Tax Benefits: Regular carpooling may qualify you for commuter tax benefits.
Carpooling Tips for Success:
- Establish the Basics: Decide carpooling frequency, driver responsibilities, insurance coverage, meeting locations, and meeting times.
- Consider Costs: If drivers rotate, expenses are shared; if one person drives consistently, passengers can contribute to gas costs.
- Create “Rules of the Road”: Agree on preferences regarding food, drinks, smoking, radio, wait times for delays, and communication protocols for absences.
- Trial Run: Start with a trial period to experience the benefits of carpooling and adjust as needed.
Central Arizona College actively participates in the Pinal County Trip Reduction Program, demonstrating our commitment to environmental responsibility and providing resources for sustainable commuting to the San Tan Learning Center.
