Maximize Your Vendor Partnership with the BestBuy Learning Network

Overview

Best Buy is committed to delivering accessible and effective learning solutions for all employees. The Bestbuy Learning Network is central to this commitment, enabling our team to learn what they need, how they prefer, and when it’s most convenient. As a valued merchandising partner, you are crucial in enriching this learning experience.

We are actively refining our training resources and developing new learning opportunities for our vendor partners. To enhance our impact and achieve shared success, we must:

  • Boost engagement with vendor-provided content by strategically aligning Best Buy and vendor learning objectives.
  • Develop approaches that prioritize an optimal learning experience while strengthening our vendor collaborations.
  • Shift from simply selling content space to delivering impactful learning experiences.
  • Emphasize the quality of learning content and highly targeted training experiences.

This guide is designed for our current merchandising partners to navigate the Learning Network, understand how to register your company and team members, and utilize resources for effective learning content curation.

Enabling a Better Learning Experience

Feedback from our employees highlights what doesn’t resonate in current learning formats:

  • Static, PowerPoint-style e-learning modules.
  • Lengthy videos that overwhelm and reduce engagement.
  • E-learning courses that cover too many topics or require excessive time commitment.
  • Dense, feature and specification-heavy content.
  • Promotional, marketing-focused videos or e-learning.
  • PDFs designed for communication rather than focused training.
  • PDFs with content that is difficult to understand or retain.

Vendor Content Guidelines – Key Details

Please note that all content submissions require 5 business days for processing and posting.

Every piece of content submitted will undergo a comprehensive 2-Step Review Process:

  1. Technology Review (Conducted by Vendor): Ensures the material is technically sound, correctly formatted, and fully functional.
  2. Sales Enablement Review: Verifies that the content strictly adheres to the content guidelines outlined below and aligns with BestBuy Learning Network standards.

Restrictions on Vendor Content:

To maintain objectivity and fairness, vendors MUST NOT include the following in any content provided to us:

  1. Mentions of competitor vendors by name.
  2. Direct or indirect comparisons between Vendor A and Vendor B.
  3. SKU/Product comparisons between Vendor A and Vendor B.
  4. Direct or indirect comparisons of competing technologies.
  5. Self-promoting claims or superlatives such as “World’s best…” or “Best in the Industry…”

Clarity, Detail, and Validation of Technology Language are Essential:

Ensure all technical language is precise, comprehensive, and rigorously verified for accuracy.

Thorough Review and Testing – Technical Specifications:

  1. E-learning modules must be fully compliant with SCORM 1.2 and ADL industry standards to ensure compatibility and tracking within the BestBuy Learning Network.
  2. Videos should be compressed to under 20MB and utilize the H264 codec (.mp4 output) to guarantee optimal playback and accessibility across all store environments.

ADA Compliance is Mandatory:

  • Closed captioning is required for all videos, whether they are standalone or integrated within an e-learning module. Furthermore, any spoken content within your e-learning modules, outside of videos, must also be captioned to meet accessibility standards within the BestBuy Learning Network.
