University of Detroit Mercy (UDM) is proud to announce the call for nominations for its prestigious Mission Leadership Awards, celebrating individuals who embody the university’s core values. These awards, the Vivere ex Missione Award and the Agere ex Missione Award, recognize both students and employees who actively live and promote the mission of Detroit Mercy in their daily endeavors, both on campus and potentially through online platforms like Blackboard Learn.
University of Detroit Mercy celebrates mission-driven students and faculty, highlighting dedication to values through initiatives supported by platforms like Blackboard Learn.
The Vivere ex Missione Award (“to live out the mission”) is dedicated to graduating students who best represent the mission of Detroit Mercy. Each year, the University recognizes outstanding undergraduate and graduate students from the McNichols Campus, alongside exemplary Law and Dental students from the Riverfront and Corktown Campuses. This esteemed award is presented during the respective commencement ceremonies, marking a significant achievement in these students’ academic journeys.
The Agere ex Missione Award (“to do the mission”) honors University employees who actively contribute to the mission. Three awards are presented annually to a faculty member, a staff member, and an administrator who exemplify Detroit Mercy’s mission in their roles. These dedicated individuals are celebrated at the Spotlight on Excellence Celebration held on May 13th, acknowledging their commitment to the University’s values in their professional lives and potentially within digital learning environments like Blackboard Learn Udmercy, enhancing the educational experience.
Nominations for these awards should highlight how the nominee fosters the four guiding values central to the University’s mission: a commitment to educating the whole person, service that actively pursues justice, recognizing the sacred in every individual, and building a community characterized by inclusivity. These values are integral to the UDM experience, whether in person or through online learning tools and resources available via Blackboard Learn.
The deadline to submit nominations for the Mission Leadership Awards is Friday, March 14. We encourage all members of the University community—students, faculty, staff, alumni, and supporters—to nominate deserving individuals. Re-nominations are also welcome for those not previously selected.
