Bronx Charter for Better Learning: Powering STEM Education Through NineDot Energy Partnership

Bronx Charter For Better Learning and NineDot Energy recently showcased their impactful collaboration at the Urban Future Forum: Equity in Piloting Climate Solutions, hosted at NYU. This event, centered around equity in climate solutions, provided a platform for Shubert Jacobs, Executive Director of Bronx Charter for Better Learning, and Adam Cohen, PhD, Co-Founder and Chief Technology Officer of NineDot Energy, to discuss their “heaven-sent partnership.”

During the Pilots and Community Engagement panel, moderated by Sara B. Chandler from Elemental Excelerator, both leaders elaborated on how their shared commitment to early childhood education and sustainable energy has profoundly benefited the Bronx Charter for Better Learning community and NineDot Energy alike. The partnership, initiated by a connection made by Board of Trustees member Marilyn Maye in 2022, blossomed from a mutual interest sparked by a NineDot Energy construction project near the school.

Adam Cohen emphasized NineDot Energy’s dedication to community investment, particularly in enhancing the local power grid for broader community benefits. This resonated deeply with Bronx Charter for Better Learning’s mission. Mr. Jacobs highlighted the seamless alignment of their organizational purposes, which paved the way for the development of the school’s innovative STEM Enrichment Program. Karlene Buckle, Bronx Charter for Better Learning’s STEM+ Enrichment Manager, played a pivotal role in nurturing the creative and collaborative synergy between the school and NineDot Energy.

This dynamic partnership extended beyond program development to include meaningful community engagement. NineDot Energy employees volunteered their time and expertise, engaging directly with students to share the project’s vision and collaboratively create an inspiring Art Mural. This initiative significantly enriched community bonds, leaving a lasting positive impression on parents, students, faculty, and staff, solidifying the profound impact of the Bronx Charter for Better Learning and NineDot Energy collaboration.
