Codon Learning Pricing and Access: Your Guide to Getting Started

Codon Learning is dedicated to providing accessible and affordable educational resources for students. Our pricing philosophy reflects this commitment, ensuring that high-quality learning platforms are available to everyone. We understand the financial considerations students face, and we’ve structured our pricing to be transparent and student-friendly.

For courses that incorporate our unique textbook replacement, known as Readiness Readings and based on resources like Introducing the Life Sciences by Scott Freeman and others from the University of Washington, the cost is $48 per semester or $40 per quarter. Courses without Readiness Readings are priced at $40 per semester or $35 per quarter. You can find specific ISBNs and pricing details on each courseware page.

To ensure every student can explore Codon Learning, we offer a 21-day free trial for all courses. If more time is needed to evaluate the platform, extensions to this trial period are available. For students who need to purchase materials through their bookstore, we provide codes to local bookstores. Additionally, we equip instructors with codes to support students facing financial difficulties, ensuring that financial hardship is not a barrier to accessing Codon Learning.

Students gain access to their Codon courses for an extensive four-year period. This means if a student needs to retake a course for any reason, there is no need for repurchase. After the free trial concludes, all sales are final. Codon Learning seamlessly integrates with major Learning Management Systems (LMS), making it easy to incorporate into existing educational frameworks.

Enrolling in a Codon Learning Course: Simple and Direct

There are primarily two straightforward methods for student enrollment in a Codon Learning course:

  1. Direct Enrollment by Instructor: Instructors opting for direct enrollment simply provide Codon Learning with a student roster. This list typically includes essential details such as first name, last name, and email address for each student. Once this list is processed, students can navigate to app.codonlearning.com. From there, they can easily set up their personal password and log in to access their assigned courses. This method streamlines the enrollment process, making it quick and efficient for both instructors and students.

  2. Learning Management System (LMS) Integration: For institutions already utilizing a Learning Management System like Canvas, Blackboard, or D2L, Codon Learning offers seamless integration. Instructors collaborate with their dedicated Faculty Success Manager to integrate Codon directly into their institution’s LMS. Once integrated, student enrollment becomes automatic. Students are enrolled in the Codon Learning course the first time they access and launch Codon Learning directly through their LMS portal. This integration simplifies access and ensures that Codon Learning fits smoothly into the student’s existing online learning environment.

It’s important to note that all students are granted a temporary free access period at the beginning of their course. This allows them to explore the course content and platform before committing to a subscription. For semester-based courses, this temporary access typically lasts for 21 days. Refunds can be processed for subscriptions canceled before the end of this initial free access period, providing students with a risk-free opportunity to try Codon Learning.

Accessing Your Codon Learning Course: Multiple Pathways

Accessing your Codon Learning courses is designed to be user-friendly, offering flexibility based on your institution’s setup:

  • Instructor Guidance is Key: Students should always first refer to the specific instructions provided by their instructor. Codon Learning provides instructors with detailed guidelines to pass on to their students, ensuring clarity on the access method. These instructions will specify whether students should access Codon Learning through a direct link within their LMS course page or by navigating directly to app.codonlearning.com.

  • Course Access Tab within Codon App: Upon successful login, students will find a “Course Access” tab conveniently located on the right side of the Codon App interface. Clicking on this tab provides important information, including the number of days remaining in their temporary free access period. This is also where students can enter an access code if they have obtained one from the bookstore or elsewhere. This tab serves as a central point for managing course access and subscription information.

  • Dedicated Helpdesk Support: For any additional assistance or if students encounter any issues accessing their courses, the Codon Helpdesk is readily available. The helpdesk offers comprehensive support and solutions to address any questions or technical difficulties students may face, ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted learning experience.

Subscription Payment Options for Codon Learning

Codon Learning offers several convenient ways for students to pay for their subscriptions, accommodating various financial situations and institutional processes:

  1. Student Direct Pay via Credit Card: The most direct payment method is through the Codon platform itself. Students can easily use a credit card to make a payment directly within the platform. This option provides immediate access to the course upon successful transaction and is a straightforward method for students who prefer to manage their payments independently.

  2. Student Access Codes: Access codes provide an alternative payment method, particularly useful in specific scenarios. Students can obtain these access codes from their bookstore, which is often necessary for those using financial aid for course materials. Access codes may also be included as part of a digital bundle offered by the institution. Students simply enter the access code on the Codon platform to activate their subscription, providing a flexible payment solution.

  3. Institutional or Departmental Purchase Orders: For institutions or departments that prefer to handle subscription payments centrally, Codon Learning accepts purchase orders. The institution or department submits a purchase order to Codon, and in turn, Codon sends an invoice. This invoice is typically payable within 30 days. This method simplifies payment processing for institutions and is often used for bulk purchases or when departments are covering the cost of Codon Learning for their students.

By offering these varied payment options, Codon Learning strives to make educational resources as accessible and manageable as possible for both students and institutions.
