August 2024: Back to School Preparations
August 15 | Elementary Immersive Program Mandatory Meeting
- 10:00am – Parents and students are invited to meet their teachers at Brainerd Hills Baptist Church. This is a crucial meeting to kick off the immersive program and connect with educators.
August 15 | Elementary, Middle & High School Mandatory Parent Meeting for New Families
- 4:15pm – Elementary & Middle School Parent Meeting at Hilger Higher Learning. New families will receive essential information and get acquainted with our programs.
- 7:30pm – High School Parent Meeting at Hilger Higher Learning. An important session designed to welcome new high school families to Hilger Higher Learning and outline the academic year.
August 19 | Classes Begin
- The week of August 19th marks the official start of classes for the 2024-2025 academic year. We are thrilled to welcome students back to Hilger Higher Learning for a year of enriching education.
August 23 | Back-to-School Family Picnic at Coolidge Park
- Join us for a fun-filled Back-to-School Family Picnic at Coolidge Park. This is a wonderful opportunity to connect with other Hilger Higher Learning families and staff in a relaxed, outdoor setting.
September 2024: Learning and Community Engagement
September 2 | Labor Day – Modified Class Schedule
- Labor Day will be observed on Monday, September 2nd. There will be no classes on Monday. However, classes will resume and meet as scheduled from Tuesday to Thursday. Teachers will provide at-home instruction for Monday’s curriculum to ensure continuous learning.
September 7 | Elementary Astronomy Class Field Trip – Cloudland Canyon
- Our Elementary Astronomy Class will embark on an exciting field trip to Cloudland Canyon. This hands-on experience will allow students to explore natural wonders and enhance their understanding of astronomy.
September 14 | Elementary Astronomy Class Field Trip – Observe the Moon Night
- Continuing their astronomical explorations, the Elementary Astronomy Class will have a special “Observe the Moon Night” field trip. Students will learn about lunar cycles and stargazing techniques.
September 20 | Middle School Hangout at Cambridge Square
- 1:00 – 3:00pm – Middle school students are invited to a fun hangout session at Cambridge Square. Tasty Donuts will generously provide free donuts, making it a sweet social event for our middle school community.
September 17 – October 22 | ACT Workshops
- In preparation for the national ACT test date on October 26th, we will be hosting ACT Workshops from September 17th to October 22nd. These workshops are designed to equip high school students with the strategies and skills needed for ACT success.
October 2024: Fall Festivities and Academic Focus
October 7-11 | Lighter Homework Week
- During the week of October 7-11, students will have a lighter homework load, approximately half of their normal assignments. Classes will still be held, but this adjusted workload is designed to allow families to enjoy a restful long weekend for travel or relaxation.
October 21-24 | Spirit Week at Hilger
- Get ready to show your school spirit! Hilger Higher Learning will host Spirit Week from October 21st to 24th. Details on themes and activities will be shared as we get closer to the date.
October 24 | Fall Festival at Hilger Higher Learning
- 5:00 – 7:00pm – Join us for our annual Fall Festival at Hilger Higher Learning! Enjoy an evening of fun, games, and community.
- With Dinner: $10 per person, with a family cap of $50.
- Without Dinner: $5 per person, with a family cap of $20.
- Children under 2 years old attend for free.
- Booth registration opens on September 16th. With only 25 spots available, early registration is encouraged! For more information about hosting a booth, please see Booth Host Details.
October 25 | Columbus Ships Field Trip
- 9:30am at Ross’s Landing in downtown Chattanooga. Explore history with a field trip to see the Columbus Ships at Ross’s Landing. Please sign up in the front office if you plan to attend to help us coordinate the group.
November 2024: Applications and Special Events
November 11 | Spring Semester Application Opens
- Application for the Spring Semester opens on November 11th. Please note: Currently enrolled students do not need to re-enroll for the spring semester. This application is for new families joining Hilger Higher Learning in the spring. Current families wishing to add a class should contact Maddy Haar at [email protected].
November 14 | High School Winter Formal at Greenway Farm
- 7:00 – 9:30pm – High School Winter Formal will be held at Greenway Farm.
- $25 per person. Registration begins October 1st.
- This event is for 9th-12th grade students only. Hilger students may bring one guest from grades 9-12 who does not attend Hilger. Seniors can bring a guest who graduated in May 2024.
November 15 | Medieval Times History Field Trip
- Lawrenceville, GA – Show starts at 11:00am. Immerse yourselves in history with a trip to Medieval Times in Lawrenceville, GA. Sign up with your child’s teacher prior to the event to secure your spot.
November 20 | 2nd Grade “Pioneer Days” Field Trip to the Chattanooga Audubon Society
- 10:30am – Our 2nd grade class will experience “Pioneer Days” at the Chattanooga Audubon Society. This trip is initially reserved for 2nd-grade students and their families. If space permits after 2nd grade registration, it will be opened to the wider Hilger community.
November 21 | Theater Arts Class Showcase
- 6:30pm at Hilger Higher Learning. The Theater Arts Class Showcase, previously scheduled for November 7th, has been moved to November 21st. Enjoy the talents of our students with free admission at Hilger Higher Learning.
November 25 – 29 | Thanksgiving Break – No Classes
- Enjoy a restful Thanksgiving Break! There will be no classes held this week as we celebrate Thanksgiving.
December 2024: End of Semester and Holiday Celebrations
December 3-5 | Student + Senior Photos at HHL
- Student and Senior photos will be taken at Hilger Higher Learning from December 3rd to 5th. Photos will be available for purchase, including formal drape photos for seniors. Sign-up information will be sent out closer to the date. Please note that only high school senior photos will be featured in this year’s yearbook. All students are welcome to be photographed for personal purchase.
December 10 | HHL Choir Christmas Concert
- 7:00pm at Covenant Presbyterian Church (doors open at 6:30pm). Celebrate the holiday season with the HHL Choir Christmas Concert at Covenant Presbyterian Church. Admission is free, and doors open at 6:30pm.
December 9-12 | Last Week of Classes – Final Exams
- The week of December 9-12 marks the last week of classes for the Fall Semester, including final exams for various courses.
December 31 | Fall Semester Grades and Evaluations Available
- Fall Semester Grades and Evaluations will be available to families on December 31st.
December 31 | Spring Semester Application Deadline for New Families
- December 31st is the deadline for Spring Semester Applications for new families wishing to join Hilger Higher Learning.
January 2025: Start of Spring Semester
January 6 | 2nd Semester Classes Begin
- The week of January 6th marks the beginning of the 2nd Semester classes. We look forward to a fresh start and continued learning in the new semester at Hilger Higher Learning.
January 16 | School Pictures Make-Up Day
- 9:45am – 12:15pm. A School Picture Make-Up Day is scheduled for January 16th. Sign-up link for senior and underclassman photos will be sent out prior to the make-up day.
January 31 | All School Skating Party at Hamilton Skate Place
- 2:00-4:00pm. All Hilger Higher Learning families are invited to an All School Skating Party at Hamilton Skate Place. Admission is $8 per person at the door, including skates and a drink.
February 2025: Mid-Semester Events
Spring 2026 | Talent Show
- Mark your calendars for the Talent Show, which will be held in Spring 2026 on a bi-annual schedule.
February 10-14 | Lighter Homework Week
- Enjoy a lighter homework week from February 10-14. Students will have approximately half their normal workload, while classes will continue to meet. This is designed to facilitate family flexibility for long weekends.
February 24 | Open House for Rising 3rd Graders
- 3:00-3:30pm at 1906 Hickory Valley Road, Chattanooga, TN 37421. For families with 2nd-grade students in our Elementary Immersive Program considering our 3rd-12th grade academic program, we will host an Open House. Join us to preview the program at our main campus.
March 2025: Enrollment and Spring Break
March 3-9 | Early Enrollment for Current 2024-2025 Families
- Early Enrollment for current 2024-2025 families will take place from March 3-9. Secure your spot for the next academic year during this priority enrollment period.
March 10 | Christian College Fair
- 3:00-5:00pm at Chattanooga Christian School. Hilger Higher Learning families are invited to attend the Christian College Fair at Chattanooga Christian School to explore higher education options.
March 12 | Application for 2025-2026 School Year Begins
- Application for the 2025-2026 School Year will open on March 12th. After the Early Enrollment period, applications will reopen for both new and current families.
March 17-21 | Spring Break
- Enjoy Spring Break from March 17-21. No classes will be held during this week.
April 2025: Performances and Field Trips
April 10 & 11 | Theater Arts Class Spring Production
- Don’t miss the Theater Arts Class Spring Production on April 10th and 11th. Support our talented students in their spring performance.
April 17 | Art Show – Elementary, Middle and High School
- Celebrate creativity at the Art Show featuring artwork from Elementary, Middle, and High School students on April 17th.
April 18 | Coolidge Medal of Honor Museum Field Trip
- 9:00am – 1:00pm in downtown Chattanooga. Explore local history with a field trip to the Coolidge Medal of Honor Museum in downtown Chattanooga. While sign-up is not mandatory, it is preferred to help us coordinate the Hilger group.
May 2025: End of Year Celebrations and Exams
May 2 | Senior Luncheon & End-of-the-Year Skating Party
- Celebrate our graduating seniors at the Senior Luncheon and enjoy an End-of-the-Year Skating Party on May 2nd.
May 12 | Elementary Science Project Day
- Witness the innovative projects of our young scientists at the Elementary Science Project Day on May 12th.
May TBA | HHL Spring Choir Concert
- Date to be announced soon – Join us for the HHL Spring Choir Concert. Please stay tuned for the confirmed date and time.
May 12 – 15 | Last Week of Classes – Elementary, Middle, and High School Exams
- The week of May 12-15 marks the final week of classes for the Spring Semester, including exams for Elementary, Middle, and High School students.
May 31 | Spring Semester Grades and Evaluations Available
