Astral projection, the experience of separating consciousness from the physical body, intrigues many. But how long does it take to master this skill? While my personal experience won’t provide a definitive answer, it offers a glimpse into the journey.
One moment I was lying in bed, the next, I was standing at its foot. Fully awake, with normal thoughts, I knew this wasn’t ordinary reality. The room resembled my bedroom, dimly lit, yet felt distinctly different. Fear or excitement, I’d read, could snap you back, so I focused on staying calm.
My first task: look in the mirror. Instantly, I saw my reflection in the door, my physical self staring back. I yearned for clearer vision, shouting “Clarity now!” No vocal vibration, yet the words formed in my mind, mirrored by my reflection.
Trying another technique, I attempted to rub my hands together but my arms felt numb. I shouted “clarity now” again, with forceful intention, seeing my reflection react, but feeling nothing in my own body. Looking down, I saw only the floor – no body, just consciousness.
Suddenly, I began sinking through the floorboards, the room rising around me. A chance to explore this new realm, yet fear of leaving my body behind held me back. This descent wasn’t intentional; a lack of control diminished my confidence.
I’d learned that thinking of your physical body triggers return. Avoiding that thought prolonged the experience, but eventually, fear won. The moment I decided to return, I was back in bed, body tingling with energy.
My experience was spontaneous, not the result of prolonged practice. It highlights the unpredictable nature of astral projection. While some achieve it quickly, others dedicate years. There’s no set timeline. Learning involves techniques like meditation, visualization, and deep relaxation, fostering the mind-body connection crucial for this out-of-body experience. Persistence, patience, and a genuine interest are key.
