Blackboard Learn Alabama: ACCS Colleges Enhance Student Experience with Expanded Partnership

The Alabama Community College System (ACCS) and Blackboard Inc. have strengthened their long-standing relationship to elevate the learning experience for students across 11 ACCS colleges. This expanded partnership ensures a consistent and enriched teaching and learning environment through the adoption of Blackboard’s advanced educational technology solutions until the 2024 academic year.

Eleven colleges within the ACCS will now benefit from Blackboard Learn with the Ultra experience, the company’s next-generation cloud-based Learning Management System (LMS). This platform is designed to offer a streamlined and powerful teaching and learning experience for both educators and students. Beyond the LMS, ACCS will also leverage Blackboard’s comprehensive suite of student success solutions and services. This includes data analytics, virtual classroom capabilities, accessibility tools, IT help desk support, analytics-driven retention coaching, and professional development resources. These integrated solutions are designed to create a holistic EdTech ecosystem that supports every aspect of the student journey.

Furthermore, ACCS has already implemented Blackboard Ally across 23 of its institutions. Blackboard Ally is a crucial tool for fostering inclusive learning environments. It automatically scans digital course content for accessibility issues and generates alternative formats that are optimized for assistive technologies, mobile devices, and various study tools. Ally also empowers instructors with feedback on how to improve the accessibility of their course materials and provides system-wide reporting on content accessibility, enabling continuous improvement across the institution.

“The implementation of Blackboard Learn with the Ultra experience signifies our commitment to providing a uniform and engaging educational experience for both students and faculty within these 11 colleges,” stated Jimmy H. Baker, Chancellor of the Alabama Community College System. “We are confident that this strategic decision will continuously enhance the quality of the student experience within the ACCS.”

Lee Blakemore, Chief Client Officer, President Global Markets at Blackboard, commented, “Blackboard’s holistic EdTech ecosystem, anchored by Blackboard Learn with the Ultra experience, is ideally suited to support ACCS in its mission to enrich teaching and learning. We value our ongoing partnership with the Alabama Community College System and are dedicated to delivering a superior learning experience for their students.”
