Explore STEM Fun at the TGR Learning Lab Activity Zone

Get ready for an exciting experience at this year’s Quicken Loans National! The Tgr Learning Lab Activity Zone is back, offering young fans and families a fantastic opportunity to dive into the world of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in a fun and engaging way. This free-to-all zone provides a break from the golf action, inviting kids to participate in four unique, hands-on activities designed to spark curiosity and learning.

Light It Up: 3D Printing and Circuitry Exploration

Step into the world of electronics with the “Light it Up” activity! Here, kids can become inventors as they build their very own mini-flashlight. This hands-on experience introduces the fundamentals of circuitry in an accessible way, using just a coin battery and an LED bulb. Participants will learn how to connect these simple components to create light, and the best part? The flashlight casing itself is 3D-printed! This activity perfectly blends modern technology with basic science principles, providing a memorable keepsake of their Quicken Loans National adventure.

Tower Challenge: Engineering and Teamwork in Action

Challenge your engineering skills at the Tower Challenge! This activity encourages problem-solving and collaboration as visitors are tasked with constructing the tallest possible freestanding structure. Starting with a single wooden cube as a foundation, participants will use wooden cubes, craft sticks, and plastic cups to reach for the sky. Throughout the day, the highest towers will be measured and recorded, creating a friendly competition. Daily winners are announced at 12 p.m. and 3 p.m., adding an extra layer of excitement with special prizes up for grabs.

Virtual Reality Learning: Immersive Educational Adventures

Discover the future of education with the Learning Via VR station. Virtual Reality (VR) is transforming how we learn, and this activity offers a glimpse into its potential. Guests can immerse themselves in a variety of virtual learning environments, from exploring the depths of the ocean to journeying through our solar system, or even taking a virtual tour of a college campus. Experience firsthand how VR technology can transport you to different worlds, all while demonstrating its power as an engaging educational tool.

Digital Fabrication Experience: Create Your Own Golf Memento

New to the TGR Learning Lab Activity Zone is the Digital Fabrication Experience by Fab Lab. This cutting-edge activity allows young innovators to interact with laser cutters and Fab Lab’s CAD software to design and create a personalized ball marker to take home. Using real digital fabrication equipment, participants will experience 21st-century technology in action, merging it with the world of golf. It’s a unique and special way for visitors to commemorate their day at the Quicken Loans National and learn about digital design and manufacturing.

Beyond the TGR Learning Lab Activity Zone, the Quicken Loans National offers even more for young attendees. The Family Village provides putt-putt golf, face painting, and other fun activities to keep everyone entertained. For young golf enthusiasts, there will also be a youth golf exhibition on the driving range at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27, offering a chance to learn from a PGA TOUR Pro!

Don’t miss the TGR Learning Lab Activity Zone, open from Wednesday, June 27 to Sunday, July 1 at the 2018 Quicken Loans National. It’s the perfect blend of education and entertainment for kids and families alike.
