Preparing your child for kindergarten and beyond is a key priority at Federal Way Public Schools (FWPS). Goal 3 of our strategic plan emphasizes that every student will begin kindergarten ready to learn, equipped with crucial social-emotional skills. This foundation ensures they can meet or exceed academic standards in English Language Arts (ELA) and Mathematics by the end of 3rd grade, as outlined in Goal 1: The Early Years – Building the Foundation. Learn more about these initiatives and how to enroll your child by visiting Learn.fwps.org.
Our early learning programs are designed to provide young children with the essential skills needed for a smooth transition into a school environment. Through engaging peer interactions, children develop vital social skills, learn to follow directions, enhance their motor skills, and cultivate their natural curiosity about the world around them. These programs also foster independence, cultural awareness, and a strong sense of belonging within a diverse classroom setting.
Each program day is structured with a schedule that includes exploratory play, focused small group instruction, outdoor activities, meal and snack times, and designated quiet time or naps for full-day participants.
