Learning A-Z: Ensuring Digital Accessibility for All Learners

Last Updated: May 15, 2024

At Learning A-Z, a cornerstone of our mission is to deliver research-based digital resources and educational tools that empower teachers and families. We are deeply committed to fostering improved learning outcomes for all students. This commitment extends to ensuring our platforms are accessible to everyone, and we are constantly striving to enhance the accessibility of our products to meet the diverse needs of all learners.

Our dedication to accessibility is reflected in the alignment of Learning A-Z products with both Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 AA standards. To demonstrate this commitment, Learning A-Z has completed Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs®)* for our key products and platforms. These VPATs, detailing our accessibility conformance, are readily available here.

We recognize that technology and accessibility standards are always evolving. Achieving full and continuous compliance is an ongoing journey. Like all providers of educational technology services, there may be specific criteria within certain accessibility standards that are not fully applicable to, or currently supported across, every aspect of our extensive range of educational products and services.

To proactively address these evolving requirements and ensure our products remain as accessible as possible, Learning A-Z undertakes regular reviews and updates, guided by a robust accessibility framework:

  • Strategic Partnership with Accessibility Experts: Learning A-Z collaborates with Deque, a leading accessibility provider. Deque offers expert guidance and conducts thorough, independent audits to evaluate our progress in meeting WCAG 2.1 AA standards. This partnership ensures we are aligned with industry best practices and receive external validation of our accessibility efforts.
  • Dedicated Internal Accessibility Team: Learning A-Z maintains an internal team specifically focused on accessibility. This team is responsible for championing accessibility standards throughout our product development lifecycle, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring accessibility is a core consideration in all that we do.
  • Continuous Team Training and Development: To foster a culture of accessibility, Learning A-Z invests in ongoing training for our teams. This training is based on the latest best practices and accessibility guidelines, empowering our staff to create and maintain accessible products and services. We believe that embedding accessibility knowledge across our organization is crucial for long-term success.

Mobile Accessibility: Extending Accessibility to All Platforms

Recognizing the increasing importance of mobile learning, Learning A-Z is equally dedicated to ensuring accessibility within our mobile experiences. Our mobile platforms are also designed to meet WCAG 2.1 AA standards, guaranteeing that a wider range of users can effectively utilize our award-winning educational resources on their preferred devices. Achieving this level of mobile accessibility has involved close collaboration with accessibility consultants, the dedication of our internal accessibility team, and the integration of rigorous accessibility testing into our quality assurance processes.

Our Ongoing Commitment to Accessibility

Learning A-Z is committed to expanding literacy and learning opportunities through thoughtfully designed resources that are adaptable and inclusive for every student. Meeting WCAG 2.1 AA standards across both our web and mobile platforms is a significant milestone in our ongoing accessibility journey. We view accessibility as not just a requirement, but as an integral part of creating equitable and effective learning experiences.
