Accessing a World of Educational Resources: Your Learning Resource Center Membership

For educators, parents, and those dedicated to supporting students with disabilities, the Learning Resource Center (LRC) offers a wealth of invaluable resources and services. To fully benefit from our extensive collection of materials, engaging events, and professional production services, an LRC membership is essential.

Unlocking Opportunities with LRC Membership

Membership at the Learning Resource Center is your key to a vast landscape of educational support. It grants you access to a diverse range of library resources specifically curated to assist educators and parents. Whether you are looking for the latest teaching materials, seeking guidance on inclusive education practices, or aiming to enhance your professional skills, our center is designed to empower you. Membership is valid for one year from the issue date, ensuring continuous access to our evolving resources. To become a member, individuals must be 18 years of age or older and complete the membership application personally, as memberships are non-transferable. We extend our membership to parents, educators at all levels, pre-service teachers, and individuals actively involved in supporting students with disabilities, fostering a collaborative community dedicated to educational excellence. By becoming a member, you agree to receive email updates about our resources and events and to adhere to the LRC’s guidelines, ensuring a positive and productive environment for everyone.

Navigating the LRC: Guidelines for a Productive Visit

Upon entering the Learning Resource Center, kindly sign in with your membership number to help us maintain a secure and organized environment. We warmly welcome families, and while children are permitted, we request that they are accompanied by an adult at all times. Please note that the LRC does not offer childcare services, and to ensure a focused atmosphere for all members, we discourage bringing children for extended periods. For safety and resource preservation, children are not allowed to operate equipment or use certain materials like scissors or permanent markers. Crayons are permitted for children’s use. To maintain a conducive learning environment, playing within the center is not allowed. Our staff are dedicated to ensuring a respectful and productive space, and may kindly request parents to leave with children if disruptions occur.

Borrowing and Utilizing LRC Materials: Circulation Policies

As an LRC member, you can borrow up to six (6) items at a time for a three (3) week period, providing ample opportunity to utilize our resources. Should you require more time, renewals are simple and convenient. Materials can be renewed once for an additional three weeks, either in person at our center, by phone, or through your online Patron Account via our Researcher platform. When renewing by phone, please have your LRC membership number ready to expedite the process. These flexible circulation policies are designed to support your ongoing access to the learning materials you need.

Understanding Overdue, Lost, and Damaged Material Policies

Returning materials on time ensures that resources are available for all members of our learning community. A nominal fine of five cents ($0.05) per working day, up to a maximum of two dollars ($2.00) per item, may be applied to overdue materials. As a courtesy, email notifications are sent for overdue items. In cases where materials are overdue by 30 days or more, membership privileges may be temporarily suspended, and the member may be responsible for covering the full replacement cost of the overdue items. Suspension means a temporary pause in accessing LRC services and events across all locations until the matter is resolved. Please be aware that fines will be deducted from your $25.00 daily credit if applicable.

Responsibility for borrowed materials rests with the member from the moment they are checked out. Members may be asked to cover repair or replacement costs for materials that are lost or returned in damaged condition, regardless of whether the damage was caused by the member directly, a student, or another individual. LRC borrowing privileges may be suspended until lost or damaged items are either returned in good condition or the replacement cost is settled. The fees for damage or loss are determined by the LRC and can vary based on the extent of the damage, potentially reaching the full replacement value.

Please be aware that members demonstrating a repeated pattern of overdue, lost, or damaged items may have their borrowing privileges reviewed and potentially restricted at the discretion of the LRC administration.
