Unlock Educational Excellence: Your Guide to the Learning Resources Center

Membership at the Learning Resources Center (LRC) is your gateway to a wealth of educational materials, engaging events, and essential production services designed to support your learning and teaching endeavors. An LRC membership card is essential for accessing all that our center offers, providing you with the resources you need to excel. Membership is valid for a period of 12 months from the date it is issued, ensuring you have ongoing access to our valuable collection.

To become a member of the Learning Resources Center, individuals must be at least 18 years of age. We welcome applications from parents, educators, pre-service teachers, and individuals dedicated to serving students with disabilities. Please note that memberships are individual and cannot be requested on behalf of others. By becoming a member, you agree to receive email communications from the LRC and to abide by all established LRC policies, ensuring a respectful and productive environment for everyone.

Upon entering the Learning Resources Center, members are required to sign in using their membership number. We are committed to providing a welcoming environment for families; however, children visiting the LRC must be accompanied by an adult at all times. It is important to note that the LRC does not offer childcare services. While we understand that members may occasionally need to bring children, we discourage prolonged visits to maintain a focused atmosphere within the center. For the safety and consideration of all members, children are not permitted to operate equipment or handle potentially hazardous materials such as scissors or permanent markers. Crayons are permitted for children’s use. To ensure a conducive learning environment, children are not allowed to play within the center, and LRC staff may request parents to leave if a child becomes disruptive.

As a member, you can borrow a selection of up to six (6) items for a loan period of three (3) weeks. Should you require more time with your borrowed materials, renewals are available. You can renew materials once for an additional three-week period. Renewals can be conveniently processed in person at our circulation desk, by phone, or online through your Patron Account via our online Researcher system. When renewing by phone, please ensure you have your LRC membership number readily available to expedite the process.

We understand that managing borrowed materials can sometimes be challenging. To ensure resources are available for everyone, a nominal fine of five cents ($0.05) per working day is applied to each overdue item, with a maximum charge of two dollars ($2.00) per item. Email notifications are sent to members regarding overdue materials as a helpful reminder. In cases where resources are overdue for 30 days or more, borrowing privileges may be suspended, and members may be responsible for covering the full replacement cost of the overdue items. Suspended members will not be able to access any LRC Network services or events at any location until the matter is resolved. Any fines incurred will be deducted from your $25.00 daily credit.

Please be aware that members are responsible for all materials borrowed from the Learning Resources Center. If materials are lost or returned in a damaged condition, the borrower may be charged a repair or replacement fee. This responsibility applies regardless of whether the damage was caused by the member, a student, or another individual. Borrowing privileges at the LRC may be suspended until lost or damaged items are returned or the associated replacement costs are settled. The LRC determines fines based on the extent of damage, ranging from repair fees to the full replacement value of the item.

Please Note: Members who repeatedly demonstrate a pattern of overdue, lost, or damaged items may have their borrowing privileges restricted at the discretion of the local LRC administration.
