Georgia Institute of Technology has officially commenced its search for the inaugural Dean to lead its newly established College of Lifetime Learning. The search committee, tasked with identifying a visionary leader, is under the guidance of Anuj Mehrotra, Dean of the Scheller College of Business. This committee comprises a diverse group of faculty, staff, and students from across Georgia Tech and representatives from the University System of Georgia, ensuring a comprehensive perspective in the selection process.
Provost Steve McLaughlin emphasized the significance of this undertaking. “Launching a new College presents both an exciting opportunity and a considerable challenge,” he stated. “We seek a Dean who can fully embrace the potential of the College of Lifetime Learning for Georgia Tech, while also establishing a robust foundation for its future success. I am confident in our search committee’s ability to identify the ideal individual for this foundational role, and that their efforts will be amplified by the enthusiasm of the new College’s faculty and staff.”
The search is open to both internal candidates within Georgia Tech and external applicants. The Dean will report directly to the Provost and will be instrumental in defining and executing the strategic vision for the College of Lifetime Learning, shaping its direction in the evolving landscape of higher education and continuing education.
To facilitate this critical search, Georgia Tech has partnered with the executive search firm Heidrick & Struggles. Representatives from the firm will engage with faculty and staff currently within the College of Lifetime Learning units. These discussions will be crucial in gathering insights into the desired qualifications and characteristics of the next Dean, ensuring the chosen leader aligns with the needs and aspirations of the college community.
To further encourage broad participation, a virtual town hall is scheduled, offering an open forum for the wider Georgia Tech community to contribute their perspectives and insights to the search process. All faculty, staff, and students are invited to participate and share their thoughts on the future leadership of the College of Lifetime Learning.
Recommendations for candidates and any inquiries, including those from individuals unable to attend the town hall, can be directed to the Heidrick & Struggles team at [email protected]. This dedicated channel ensures all voices can be heard in this important selection process.
