We are excited to announce the global availability of our Machine Learning Crash Course Google (MLCC) (MLCC). Initially designed for Google engineers, this popular course, delivered to over 18,000 Googlers, is now accessible to everyone! The course is designed to build your intuition around the core concepts of machine learning.
What Will You Learn in the Course?
The Machine Learning Crash Course Google covers a wide range of essential machine learning topics. It begins with foundational concepts such as loss functions and gradient descent, and progresses to more complex areas like classification models and neural networks. Hands-on programming exercises are integrated into the course, utilizing TensorFlow. You’ll learn through engaging video lectures from Google’s machine learning experts, concise text-based lessons, and interactive educational tools developed by instructional designers and engineers.
Is There a Cost to Enroll?
The Machine Learning Crash Course Google is completely free of charge.
Why is Google Offering This Course for Free?
We at Google believe in the transformative power of machine learning. Its potential is so immense that we think everyone in a technical field should grasp its fundamentals. To make this knowledge widely available, we are offering the course in multiple languages including English, Spanish, Korean, Mandarin, and French.
Does the Course Include Real-World Applications?
Yes, the Machine Learning Crash Course Google emphasizes practical application. It concludes with lessons focused on designing machine learning systems for real-world scenarios. Crucially, MLCC also includes sections where you can learn from the real mistakes and insights of our experienced Google experts.
What Math Background Do I Need?
A basic understanding of algebra and elementary statistics (like mean and standard deviation) is beneficial for the Machine Learning Crash Course Google. Calculus knowledge will enhance your understanding, but it’s not a prerequisite. MLCC provides a helpful section to refresh your math skills if needed.
Is This a Programming-Intensive Course?
While the Machine Learning Crash Course Google does incorporate Python programming exercises, they constitute a small portion of the overall course. Non-programmers can comfortably skip these exercises and still gain significant knowledge.
I’m New to Python. Will I Struggle with the Programming Exercises?
Many Google engineers who took the Machine Learning Crash Course Google were new to Python and successfully completed the exercises. The programming component is designed to be accessible; you’ll primarily be modifying existing variable values rather than writing extensive code from scratch. Basic Python familiarity will certainly be helpful for comprehension.
Can I Learn Machine Learning Concepts Without Programming?
Absolutely! The Machine Learning Crash Course Google utilizes diverse learning methods, including interactive tools and various media, to build a strong intuitive understanding of fundamental machine learning concepts. A technical mindset is beneficial, but programming expertise is not mandatory.
How Can I Demonstrate My Machine Learning Skills?
As you advance your machine learning knowledge with the Machine Learning Crash Course Google, you can put your skills to the test by contributing to the community. We are also launching a Kaggle competition in collaboration with DonorsChoose.org. DonorsChoose.org is a non-profit that empowers public school teachers across the U.S. to request resources for their students. They receive hundreds of thousands of project proposals annually, expecting 500,000 in 2018 alone.
Currently, DonorsChoose.org relies heavily on volunteers to manually screen these proposals. The Kaggle competition aims to leverage machine learning to expedite this screening process, allowing volunteers to use their time more effectively and ensuring more consistent project evaluations.
Is the Machine Learning Crash Course Google the Only AI Education Resource from Google?
No, the Machine Learning Crash Course Google is just one of many resources available through Google’s comprehensive AI education program. Explore the vast landscape of machine learning educational opportunities from Google through our new Learn with Google AI program at g.co/learnwithgoogleai. To begin your journey with MLCC, visit g.co/machinelearningcrashcourse.
