Discover Engaging Summer Learning Programs for 2025

Get ready for Summer Learning 2025! We are excited to announce a fantastic array of tuition-free summer courses available to students with BC residency. Whether your child is currently enrolled in SD43 schools or attends an independent institution, there are enriching opportunities awaiting them. This summer provides a unique chance to keep young minds active, explore new subjects, and get ahead, all without tuition fees.

Your Guide to Summer Learning 2025

Summer learning is an excellent way to prevent summer learning loss and provide continued educational engagement during the break. Our programs are designed to be both fun and educational, ensuring students remain stimulated and prepared for the upcoming academic year.

Tuition-Free Summer Education for BC Residents

All of our summer courses are offered completely tuition-free to students who are residents of British Columbia. This includes students already within School District 43 (SD43) who are not international students, as well as those attending independent schools. To confirm eligibility for tuition-free access if not enrolled in SD43, simply provide sufficient residency documentation during registration.

Course Fees and Materials

While the majority of our summer learning courses are tuition-free, please note that some specialized programs and most full-credit Math and Science courses may have a modest $35 materials or workbook fee. This fee is payable upon registration and helps cover the cost of consumables and resources essential for these courses. We encourage you to click on the specific class name when browsing our course catalog for detailed fee information. For comprehensive details, please visit our Fees page and Refunds page for further clarification.

Easy Registration for Summer Programs

Registering for our summer learning programs is straightforward. Visit our dedicated Registration page for step-by-step instructions. To enhance your registration experience, we recommend using a desktop computer or laptop rather than a phone. For optimal website compatibility and security, we suggest using Google Chrome, Firefox, or Microsoft Edge browsers. Please avoid using Microsoft Internet Explorer.

Here are some helpful registration tips to keep in mind:

  1. No Waitlists: We do not maintain waitlists for summer courses. If your desired course is full, regularly check our website for openings. Additional sections may be added, and spaces often become available as students adjust their schedules between now and early July.
  2. Browser Recommendation: For the smoothest registration process, use Google Chrome, Firefox, or Microsoft Edge on a desktop or laptop.

Finding the Perfect Summer Course

Navigating our course offerings is simple. Under the “Browse” menu located at the top left of our website, select “Summer Learning,” and then choose the category that best fits your needs. Alternatively, you can utilize the search field in the top right corner to quickly find courses by title or the four-digit class ID number.

Support for Students with IEPs

Do you have a child with a Special Education designation or an Individual Education Plan (IEP)? We are committed to providing inclusive summer learning environments. Visit our page dedicated to Support for Students with Ministry Designations to learn more about the support services available.

Volunteer in Summer Learning

Gain valuable experience and contribute to your community by volunteering with our summer learning program! We welcome applications for volunteers starting in April 2025. High school students interested in assisting with elementary or middle school programs can express their interest through this FORM. Adults and teacher candidates keen to volunteer with our high school programs can apply using this ADULT FORM. For any inquiries, please contact our summer learning volunteer coordinator, Mr. Wally Sawchuk at [email protected].

Exciting Afternoon Camps

Extend the summer fun with afternoon camps hosted at most elementary and middle school locations. These camps are run by external providers, such as Parks & Recreation, offering a variety of engaging activities. Keep an eye on our Summer Camps page for updated information as it becomes available.

Information for International Students

We welcome international students to our summer learning programs.

  • International Funded Students: Students with work or study permits can enroll in any K-12 class.
  • International Non-Funded (Fee-Paying) Students: For students in Kindergarten to Grade 7, enrollment in the summer learning program is available for a fee of $900 per class, plus any applicable materials fees. You will be contacted regarding payment after registration. Students in Grades 8-12 who are fee-paying international students should register with the International Education Summer Program. Please visit their website for detailed program information.

Out-of-District Enrollment Welcome

Students not currently enrolled in SD43 schools are encouraged to join our summer courses. Upon creating your profile, you will be prompted to provide BC residency documentation. Once approved, you can register for courses free of tuition.

SOYL/Self-Efficacy 10/11 Program

Based at the Suwa’lkh program at Millside Centre in Coquitlam, the SOYL program offers a unique summer learning experience focused on environmental stewardship. Empowering youth to manage our schoolyard farm and forest, the program emphasizes hands-on learning, community development, and cultivating “Good Food for All“.
