Responsibilities of an Assistant Teacher at Sunshine Learning Center:
- Build and maintain open, friendly, and cooperative relationships with each child and their family, fostering a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.
- Implement the Creative Curriculum and understand the NY Common Core standards to guide educational practices.
- Develop and consistently deliver stimulating and age-appropriate activities that support children’s emotional, intellectual, and social development, encouraging holistic growth.
- Actively encourage parental involvement in the program, recognizing the vital role of families in a child’s educational journey.
- Nurture the parent-child bond within our center environment, creating a supportive and connected community.
- Promote feelings of security and trust in infants and toddlers, ensuring a safe and emotionally supportive space for our youngest learners.
- Maintain open and consistent communication with families regarding their child’s developmental progress, milestones, and transitions, ensuring transparency and partnership.
- Plan and implement individualized development plans for each child, in close collaboration with parents, to ensure personalized learning experiences.
- Conduct daily safety inspections of the classroom, prioritizing the well-being and security of all children.
- Prepare and execute seamless transition plans to ensure continuity of care as children progress through different stages, actively involving parents in the planning process.
- Partner with parents to enhance their understanding of child development principles, including developmental stages, age-appropriate practices, early literacy strategies, and the importance of parental involvement.
- Continuously monitor the physical and emotional well-being of each child, responding to their individual needs with care and attention.
- Assess family needs and connect them with appropriate resources and support when necessary, strengthening our community network.
- Adhere strictly to all health and safety policies and procedures while diligently supervising children at all times, ensuring a safe and healthy learning environment.
- Actively participate in supervision sessions, seeking guidance and professional growth opportunities.
- Attend regularly scheduled staff meetings and professional development trainings to stay current with best practices in early childhood education.
- Communicate effectively and professionally with colleagues, including providing and receiving constructive feedback to foster a collaborative team environment.
- Cooperate successfully and professionally as an integral member of our team, contributing to a positive and supportive workplace culture.
- Proactively offer and share creative ideas and materials with co-workers, enriching the learning environment for all children.
- Provide daily care for infants and toddlers, including feeding, diaper changing, and other essential nurturing tasks.
Qualifications to Join Our Team:
- Must be at least 21 years of age, demonstrating maturity and responsibility.
- Must possess at least a High School Diploma, with further education in early childhood education being a valuable asset.
- Must be Fingerprinted by IdentoGo, meeting essential safety and background check requirements.
- Must have a minimum of 1 year of proven experience working with young children in a group setting, showcasing practical skills and understanding of child development.
