Since 2000, Treehouse Learning Center has been dedicated to providing a secure, Christian, and loving atmosphere for children. As a non-profit organization, Treehouse Learning Center focuses on fostering self-esteem, developing strong homework habits, building lasting friendships, and instilling a sense of responsibility in each child. We believe in creating a supportive community where children can thrive and grow.
Our comprehensive after-school care program operates throughout the academic year, offering a structured and engaging environment for students. During the summer months, we expand to full-day programming, ensuring consistent care and enrichment. For families within the Black River Public Schools and Holland Language Academy districts, transportation to Treehouse Learning Center is conveniently provided. A typical day at Treehouse includes nutritious snack times, uplifting devotional moments, activities designed to enhance gross motor skills, dedicated homework assistance, interactive table games, and opportunities for free play and exploration.
Summer at Treehouse Learning Center is an adventure filled with thematic weekly programs and a strong emphasis on literacy. Children engage in a variety of stimulating activities such as science experiments, baking projects, exciting field trips, sports and recreation, water-based fun, arts and crafts, scrapbooking, problem-solving challenges, puppetry, music exploration, journaling, and drama. Our summer curriculum is designed to be both educational and enjoyable, ensuring a memorable experience for every child.
THE FOUNDATION OF TREEHOUSE LEARNING CENTER: A Community Initiative
Treehouse Learning Center originated from Maplewood Church’s commitment to community outreach. In collaboration with Mr. Day, the Principal of Maplewood School, the vision for an after-school program was born out of a recognized community need to support students with their homework. Over two decades ago, this idea took root, driven by the congregation’s enthusiasm. Since then, our core mission has remained steadfast: to offer accessible childcare that integrates devotional time and homework support. Prioritizing single-parent families and those facing financial hardship, Treehouse proudly serves a diverse population, with half of our children currently coming from single-parent households. Thanks to the support of facilities and overhead coverage, Treehouse Learning Center can maintain significantly lower childcare costs, currently at just $40 per week. After over 20 years of service, our dedication to local families and providing a safe, nurturing after-school haven for children is stronger than ever.
